Users
Clients → Users lists everyone with an account on your client site. From here you create accounts, edit details, control what each person can see and download, and unlock anyone who has been locked out.
Find a user
- Type in Search… to match names, emails and companies.
- The status dropdown next to the search box narrows the list. It defaults to Approved & verified. Choose Pending approval, Unverified email or All users to see the others. When a search finds nothing, click Search all users? to widen the status to all users.
Columns: Name (with email underneath), Company, Failed logins and Created, plus Verified and Approved icons when you are not looking at the approved and verified list. Use Columns to show ID, first name, last name or email. Rows are dimmed for users who cannot sign in yet.
What each status means
A user can sign in only when they are both verified and approved.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Verified | The user has clicked the link in their verification email (or you created them as verified). |
| Approved | An admin has approved the account, or your access settings approve users automatically. Users waiting for approval appear under Clients → Pending. |
| Failed logins | A count of wrong password attempts since the last successful sign in. After 10 the account is locked and the row shows a red lock; see Reset a password or unblock a user. |
Create or edit a user
Click the round + button to create, or the pencil on a row to edit. The form opens in a panel on the right and the address bar gains ?edit=…, so you can share the link to a specific user.
Account
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Approved and Email verified switches | Both default to on for new users. Switching Approved on for an existing user sends them a “Your account has been approved” email. Creating a user with Email verified on means no verification email is sent; switch it off if you want the user to confirm their address. |
| Required and unique within your organisation. | |
| Password | Required when creating. Click Generate for a strong random password and the eye icon to reveal it so you can pass it on. When editing, leave it untouched to keep the current password. Passwords need a lowercase letter, an uppercase letter, a number and a special character. |
| First name, Last name | Optional. |
| Role | Defaults to User. Admin gives access to this admin. See Roles and permissions. |
Details holds optional profile fields: telephone, job title, usage, company, website, business type, tax ID, address, postcode, country, country code, language and image URL, plus a Newsletter switch.
Groups controls catalogue access. See Groups and access types for the concepts.
- Inherited access shows the groups every signed in user gets from your access settings. Switch on No inheritance to exclude this user from those defaults.
- Custom access adds groups for this user only. Use Search for groups to add a row, then tick the access types: View (always on), Stems, License, Watermark download, Download and MCPS licence manager. The red minus removes a row.
- Domain access lists groups granted by the user’s email domain, configured in Access settings.
Click Save or Create. You can also Delete a user from the edit panel; you cannot delete your own account.
Deleting is permanent
Deleting a user also removes their profile, group access, subscriptions and licences, and cannot be undone.
See the catalogue as a user sees it
Click the Impersonate user access icon on a row. You are taken to Library → Tracks with a blue banner naming the user and their groups, and the track list is filtered to what they can see. A red No access banner means the user has no group with view access. This does not sign you in as the user.
